Abstract

The study explores the image of teacher of Paulo Freire in Teacher as Cultural Workers: Letters to Those Who Dare Teach. Freire “education is an act of love, and thus an act of courage” focuses on teachers’ critical reflection, that is to say, he is concerned about how people become a progressive teacher. Education as a continued life, teachers need continues goals in their career life. This thesis seeks to determine the image of teacher of Paulo Freire and attempts to rewrite and reinvent his idea on teacher work especially on the beginning teacher. Freire’s teacher images can help beginning teacher to understand how to learn and how to teach and especially how to experience the dynamic unity between teaching contents and the process of knowing. The results suggest that beginning teachers may firstly, rethink their own duty if they really understand it or not. Secondly, open the critical dialogue with students and realize their background. Thirdly, discover the connection between theory and practice.
